DEPARTMENT: Finance

REPORTS TO: Accounting Manager

CLASSIFICATION: Full Time Non- Exempt

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

The primary focus of this position is to administer various accounting functions, perform professional accounting work, including operating or cost accounting within the framework of the established accounting system, and other day-to-day activities within the Finance department, including financial analysis project assignments.

Experience and Skills:

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES OR TASKS PERFORMED:

 

  • Process transactions associated with the accounting functions currently assigned, such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, and travel and expense reporting

  • Check, verify and classify data to maintain financial records

  • Investigate the various causes of errors and follow up to ensure that problems are resolved

  • Participate in the month-end close process by running reports, preparing schedules, and analyzing accounts

  • Create and maintain spreadsheets to support the financial reporting system, including month end financials, budgets, and other analyses to support financial decisions within the business

  • Support accounting systems by testing new processes, documenting procedures, and analyzing data

  • Proactively educate, inform and provide analytical support to business partners

  • Obtain and maintain a thorough knowledge of the company’s products/services

  • Serve as backup for others on the Finance team and perform other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND KEY COMPETENCIES:

 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in accounting with a minimum of 5 years’ experience

  • Strong understanding of accounting systems, knowledge of Microsoft GP a plus

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office with strong skills in Excel a must

  • Personal values that match our corporate values

  • Accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to work with large amounts of data

  • High level of initiative, curiosity, and willingness to seek out information

  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team and meet deadlines
