DEPARTMENT: Codification Sales

REPORTS TO: Sales Manager

The primary responsibility of the Account Manager is to grow the top line revenue through the discovery and acquisition of opportunities to existing and prospective clients while using a consultative sales approach. Each territory contains existing customer accounts, as well as target accounts for new business development.


  • Develops new and current customers, through an outbound phone and face to face solution-based sales approach to identify new Code opportunities
  • Achieves assigned sales targets within the quarterly and annual time-frames
  • Builds and fosters new and existing client relationships with Municipal Clerks, Attorneys, Building and Planning Officials
  • Takes accountability for your geographic territory and understand municipalities, the marketplace, the culture that helps you capitalize the opportunity at hand
  • Collaborates with marketing, operations team and production staff in the promotion of sales opportunities
  • Utilizes business tools, such as CRM, to maintain account profiles, activities including new business forecast
  • Generates demand by getting the word out about our products through every medium possible such as email campaigns, telemarketing, webinars, conferences, and social selling
  • Delivers client presentations, demonstrations and facilitates meetings with clients and General Code Staff
  • Attends designated territory events to acquire leads and promote new product offerings

Experience and Skills:


  • BS/BA Degree or relevant equivalent experience
  • Experience selling to municipalities is a plus
  • Minimum 3 years of sales experience
  • Experience with a customer relationship management (CRM) software.
  • Persuasive and motivational negotiation communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong interpersonal, organization, and time management skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and act with sense of urgency fulfilling business objectives
  • Position requires up to 50% travel and ability to interface professionally with customers
  • Personal values that match our corporate values
  • Strong computer skills including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
